A Bit About The Ark

We know how important your child is which is why we deliver the highest quality of care and education to help them achieve their best.

We have a close knit team of five members of staff and a colourful, vibrant and interlinked setting that flows to ensure children are supervised at all times.

We are incredibly proud of our large green outside area. The children have plenty of space for play and development. Activities often include caring for the garden and planting fruit and vegetables to take home giving the children a real sense of achievement.

Come Take a Look

If you are considering preschool for your child please call or email us. Our first step is to arrange for you and your child to come in and see us at The Ark. We will show you around, explain how we work, answer any questions you may have and often before we even introduce ourselves your child will be off discovering and making friends.

We will provide you with an application form to take away with you which will include confirmation of what sessions you would like your child to come to. You can apply for as little or as many sessions as you like. Space is sometimes tight but we will be sure to accommodate you as much as we can.

Our Sessions

Preschool is very flexible at The Ark. We understand children often still have naps so younger children often start with half day sessions.

We run sessions in term time, Monday to Friday, as follows:

8.30am to 3.30pm All Day Session
8.30am to 11.30am Morning Session
11.30am to 12.30pm Lunchtime Session*
12.30pm to 3.30pm Afternoon Session

*only available when booked with another session

Pointers for Parents

Children will need to bring to preschool with them the following items:

- Nappies and wipes (if applicable)

- Change of clothes

- Indoor shoes

- Drinks bottle filled with water or juice (with your childs name on it)

- Lunch (if they are staying for lunch)

- Note: snacks will be provided during morning and afternoon sessions

If the weather is hot children will also need:

- Sun hat

- Clothing that covers shoulders

- Sun cream (already applied plus a spare bottle for reapplications)

If the weather is cold children will also need:

- Warm coat

- Hat

- Gloves

- Wellies

For children staying during lunch please ensure:

-any grapes/sausages/tomatoes are pre-cut lengthways

For children with medication needs:

- We can only administer prescribed medicines

- We require a letter from parents giving consent regarding administration

- The letter also needs to clearly state dose and times

- We must be informed of any allergies prior to your child starting at The Ark

- We must be given appropriate medication and guidance in case of a reaction

Illness and Children:

We accept children of this age are often catching colds so as long as your child is well enough to attend they are welcome. If your child has a runny nose that is thick or yellow/green this means that your child is still infectious. In this case your child will need to stay at home until their runs clear.

If your child has any sickness or diarrhoea your child should be kept at home and not return until 48 hours after the last episode of sickness.

Messy Play:

Most days there is an element of messy play such as painting, waterplay, sand, gloop or gardening. We recommend your child is dressed in appropriate clothes and is prepared to get messy.
